Top Decks
Top decks of a pallet can consist of variable width boards, or evenly spaced
boards. They can also be joined or spaced out, depending upon the purpose and intended use
of the pallet.

Types of Block Pallets
Pallets are commonly made by placing blocks inbetween the top and bottom decks.
Most pallets use a 9-block layout, but other combinations are possible for
custom applications or needs.
Stringerboard
The stringerboard connects the blocks to the top deck.

Skids
In block pallets, the bottom deck consists of a series of boards
that make up the pallet skid. Block pallets usually have
3 pallet skids or 5/7 pallet skids.

Stringers
Stringers serve as the support of the top deck of the pallet.
Small pallets can have as little as 2 stringers, while medium
sized pallets typically have 3. Large or pallets that are
carrying heavy loads can have 4 or more stringers.
